What are Alberta home and community care clients experiencing?

Health Quality Alberta conducted the 2024 Home Care Client Experience Survey to capture feedback from individuals 18 and over about their experience with home and community services. The survey was revamped from its previous version in 2019, and the survey eligibility was expanded to include all acute, long-term supportive, maintenance, rehabilitation, and wellness clients, 18 and older, that receive services through Type 1 or Type 2 providers. This survey expansion contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of home and community care from the perspective of clients and can be used for ongoing monitoring and quality improvement.

See below for a selection of the key measures from this survey. For full information on the 2024 survey results, and client type definitions, please click here.

Why do we talk about things like supporting home and community care clients with regular medication reviews and whether their family doctor is informed about their home and community care? The healthcare system is complex and inter-related. What’s happening in primary care and pharmacy, as well as other areas of the healthcare system, can impact clients’ experiences in home and community care.
